The Gift of God

Long before the day when Mary gave birth,
Before God formed man from the dust of the earth,
Before the stars into the heavens were hurled,
There was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Before the deadly fall of the race,
God's plan of redemption was already in place.
His own Son would die on an old rugged cross,
To save His creation from eternal loss.

God foretold His coming from the opening book,
The Seed of the woman for whom we should look.
Abraham, Isaac, and the sacrificial ram,
Foretold the sacrifice of the great I AM.

The prophets proclaimed the place of His birth:
Bethlehem of Judea, where God came to earth.
His name did the prophets clearly foretell:
Mighty God, Prince of Peace, Immanuel.

In the fullness of time God's word came to pass,
The birth of the Savior to a young virgin lass.
His mission on earth was finally unfurled,
The Lamb of God, to take away the sin of the world.

The way to the Father was shown us by Christ,
He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."
He came to release the deathgrip of sin,
He went to the cross our redemption to win.

It was for our sin that He suffered and bled,
Yet triumphant, victorious, He rose from the dead.
Now seated in heaven He eternally lives,
Mercy and forgiveness freely He gives.

Salvation is promised to all who'll receive.
Trust the Lord Jesus and in Him alone believe.
Repent of your sin and for His mercy do plead,
And from sin, death, and hell you will surely be freed.

O this Christmas may your life truly start.
May the glory of God shine into your heart.
May the gift of God -- His Son Jesus Christ
Bring true peace and joy into your life.

And what can separate us from such wonderful love
So rich and so full from our great God above?
Nothing, no nothing, in all creation can part
The Lord Jesus Christ from a redeemed, trusting heart.

God Can

When you feel unlovable, unworthy and unclean,
When you think that no one can heal you,
Remember, Friend,
God Can.

When you think that you are unforgivable
For your guilt and your shame
Remember, Friend,
God Can.

When you think that all is hidden
And no one can see within
Remember, Friend,
God Can.

And when you have reached the bottom
And you think that no one can hear
Remember my dear Friend
God Can.

And when you think that no one can love
The real person deep inside of you
Remember my dear Friend,
God Does.

I Refuse to Be Discouraged

I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
And here's the reason why . . .
I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who love me,
And I am on His team.
He is all wise and powerful,
Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.
My God knows all that's happening,
Beginning to end.
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.

When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into His arms I go.
When circumstances threaten
To rob me from my peace,
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.
And when my heart melts within me,
And weakness takes control,
He gathers me into His arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.
The great "I AM" is with me,
My life is in His hands,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in His strength I stand.

I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
As through this life I trod.
I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I'm resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on his face;
The battle's His, the victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.

If Jesus Came to Your House

If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two
If He came unexpectedly,I wonder what you'd do

Oh, I know you'd give your nicest Room to such an honored Guest
And all the food you'd serve to Him would be the very best,

And you'd keep assuring Him you're glad to have Him there-
That serving Him in your home is joy beyond compare

But when you saw Him coming would you meet Him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome to your Heavnly Visitor?

Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in
Or hide some magazines and put the Bibles where they'd been?

Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn't heard
And wish you hadn't uttered that last, loud, hasty word?

Would you hide your wordly music And put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in,or would you rush about?

And I wonder - if the Saviour spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?

Would you keep right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?

Would your family conversation keep up it's usual pace,
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?

Would you sing the words you sing and read the books you read
And let Him know the things on which your mind and spirit feed?

Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you'd planned to go?
Or would you maybe change your plans for just a day or so?

Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends,
Or would you hope they'd stay away until His visit ends?

Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on,
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?

It might be interesting to know the things that you would do
If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you.

God’s Signature

Like the author of a novel
or a writer of many rhymes
God's signature is seen upon
all His works all of the time.

The beauty that He created
with His gentle loving hand
He signed as with a golden pen
or like writings in the sand.

And with each thing He made
His put His love in every touch
every detail so uniquely laid
like a artist with a brush.

So let's not take for granted
when we all His beauty see
for He created it and signed it
and gave it to you and me.

Lost and Lonely

Once, not long ago
I feared what the morrow
Might hold
Lonely, scared, never
Having been on my own
I did not think I could
Make it alone
But as the season change
So did I
I became- a little wise,
For I realized
I would live, not die
For GOD can mend a broken heart
A shattered dream
A life torn apart
He bides His time
While meeting
Your needs
And as on the wings
Of a bird, He can set
You free...
So let Him have
His time
And do not rush
Him so
And you will find
A life and love
Better than you could
Have chose
Your humble servant

The Wedding

You're invited to my wedding
I'm going to be a bride
God made this match in heaven
When He laid my sins aside

The groom I'll have is perfect
He led a sinless life
Then gave himself to save my soul
So I could be His wife

The wedding feast will be quite grand
I hope that you'll be there
He gave His life for your soul too
It's a brideship we can share

My wedding lamp is filled with oil
For the groom I long to see
He'll soon be coming in a cloud
In all His majesty

Patiently I wait for Him
In hopes He'll soon return
Hoping all the world gets saved
And no one has to burn

There is a job been given me
While I await the groom
I must tell this sinful world
He's risen from His tomb

He'll be coming back one day
He'll come to take His bride
And those who have refused His love
Will have no place to hide

Those of us who live for Him
In whom He does abide
Shall all be at the wedding feast
For we shall be His bride

Because the bridegroom's perfect
And I've been born again
We'll soon be on our honeymoon
And it shall never end.

The ABCs of Friendship

Accepts you as you are
Believes in "you"
Calls you just to say "HI"
Doesn't give up on you
Envisions the whole of you (even the unfinished parts)
Forgives your mistakes
Gives unconditionally
Helps you
Invites you over
Just to "be" with you
Keeps you close at heart
Loves you for who you are
Makes a difference in your life
Never Judges
Offers support
Picks you up
Quiets your fears
Raises your spirits
Says nice things about you
Tells you the truth when you need to hear it
Understands you
Values you
Walks beside you
eXplains things you don't understand
Yells when you won't listen, and
Zaps you back to reality

The Bible in 50 Words

God made
Adam bit
Noah arked
Abraham split
Joseph ruled
Jacob fooled
Bush talked
Moses balked
Pharaoh plagued
People walked
Sea divided
Tablets guided
Promise landed
Saul freaked
David peeked
Prophets warned
Jesus born
God walked
Love talked
Anger crucified
Hope died
Love rose
Spirit flamed
Word spread
God remained.

Bible or TV Guide

On the table side by side:
The Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
One's well worn but cherished with pride
(Not the Bible, but the TV Guide).
One's used daily to help folk decide,
No! It isn't the Bible,it's the TV Guide.
As pages are turned, what will they see?
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV.
Then confusion reigns, they can't all agree
On what they will watch on the old TV.
So they open the book in which they confide
(Not the Bible, it's the TV Guide).
The Word of God is seldom read-
Maybe a verse o'er they fall into bed
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
(Not from reading the Bible: from watching TV).
So then back to the table, side by side,
Are the Holy Bible and the TV Guide.
No time for prayer, no time for the Word.
The way of salvation is seldom heard.
Abiding in Christ so full and free
is found in the Bible, not on TV.

Parents Prayer

Oh, God, make me a better parent.
Help me to understand my children,
To listen patiently to what they have to say
And to answer all their questions kindly.

Keep me from interrupting them,
Talking back to them and contradicting them.
Make me as courteous to them
As I would have them be to me.

Give me the courage to confess my sins
Against my children and to ask of them forgiveness,
When I know that I have done them wrong.

May I not vainly hurt the feelings of my children.
Forbid that I should laugh at their mistakes or
Resort to shame and ridicule as punishment.

Let me not tempt a child to lie and steal.
So guide me hour by hour that I may demonstrate
By all I say and do that honestly produces happiness.
Reduce, I pray, the meanness in me.

May I cease to nag:
And when I am out of sorts,
Help me, O Lord, to hold my tongue.

Blind me to the little errors of my children
And help me to see the good things that they do.
Give me a ready word for honest praise.

Help to treat my children as those of their own age,
But let me not exact of them the judgments and conventions of adults.
Allow me not to rob them of the opportunity to wait upon themselves,
To think, to choose, and to make decisions.

Forbid that I should ever punish them for my self-satisfaction.
May I grant them all of their wishes that are reasonable
And have the courage always to withhold a privilege that I know will do them harm.

Make me so fair and just, so considerate and companionable to my children that they will have a genuine esteem for me.
Fit me to be loved and imitated by my children.
With all thy gifts, Oh God, do give me calm and poise and self control.

No Matter Where I Go!

No matter how far away I go,
my Lord is always there,
no matter what the world may do to me,
my Lord will always care
In the darkest corner of the earth,
God's light cannot be hid,
He stands beside me through the night,
and I know that I am His
What can this world do to me,
why do I no longer care,
it is because my Lord stands beside me,
all my sorrows and griefs to bear
Be glad my brothers and sisters,
can't you feel it in the air,
He stands before us waiting,
give Him your every care
Lord God in heaven how I thank thee,
for loving this simple little man,
it is amazing that the King in all His glory,
would come down to hold this sinners hand
I have seen so many wonders,
and the beauty in this earthly land,
but nothing can compare,
with seeing Jesus hold your hand
When Christ lifts us up to glory,
we are no longer a part of this earthly land,
Oh come with me sinner, come with me now,
come take hold of the Masters hand.

The New School Prayer

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy', our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot;
My soul please take!
Amen

Never Found the Time

I Knelt To Pray But Not For Long

I Had Too Much To Do
I Had To Hurry And Get To Work

For Bills Would Soon Be Due
So I Knelt And Said A Hurried Prayer

And Jumped Up Off My Knees
My Christian Duty Was Now Done

My Soul Could Rest At Ease

All Day Long I Had no Time
To Spread A Word Of Cheer

No Time To Speak Of Christ To Friends

They'd Laugh At Me I'd Fear
No Time, No Time Too Much To Do

That Was My Constant Cry
No Time To Give To Souls In Need

But At Last The Time To Die

I Went Before The Lord
I Came, I Stood With Downcast Eyes

For In His Hands God Held A Book

It Was The Book Of Life
God Looked Into His Book And Said

Your Name I Cannot Find
I Once Was Going To Write It Down...

But Never Found The Time!

Mary Had a Little Lamb

Mary had a little Lamb,
His fleece was white as snow.

And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day,
When it wasn't against the rules.

He made the children laugh and play
To have the Lamb at school.

Then the rules changed one day,
Against the law it became.

To bring the Lamb of God to school
Or even speak His name.

Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.

Instead of hearing children laugh and play,
You heard them crying tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That's in our schools today?

Let the Lamb come back to school
And teach our kids to pray.

Marriage Takes Three

I once thought marriage took
Just two to make a go,
But now I am convinced
It takes the Lord also.

And not one marriage fails
Where Christ is asked to enter,
As lovers come together
With Jesus at the center.

But marriage seldom thrives,
And homes are incomplete,
Till He is welcomed there
To help avoid defeat.

In homes where Christ is first,
It's obvious to see,
Those unions really work,
For marriage still takes three.

A Man Named Jesus

There was a man named Jesus
(really the Son of God),
One day He’ll rule on His New Earth,
With crown & robe & rod.

He was laid in a manger of hay,
for there was no room in the inn that day.
He was born to save us from our sin,
Won’t you open your heart’s door,
and let him come in?

At twelve, He went to the temple to preach,
the Word of the Lord, the Jews to teach.
At thirty years old, His ministry began,
preaching the Kingdom of Heaven to man.

At thirty-three, all hell broke loose,
His death was soon to come,
The grave held him for just three days,
Their Messiah, God’s own Son.

He was beaten and berated,
And then denied thrice;
The Messiah, the Savior,
God’s perfect sacrifice.

He’ll come again to take us Home,
where we can live with Him,
Forever more, we’ll want for naught,
and the Light will never dim.

I Found a New Love Today

I found a new love today
As I got down on my knees
And ask Jesus into my heart
To be a part of me.

The love of God is pure and rare
He shows it in many ways
It has no beginning, it has no end
It shows in His creation everywhere.

He promised He would never leave me
No matter how far I go
His Holy Spirit comforts me
When I’m sad and feeling low.

Never has other love compared
For God did send His Son
To die upon a cross for me
And I wasn't even there.

He sends His guardian angels
To watch over me day and night
And then there are those angels
Who my battles they will fight.

And when the battles over
And time on earth is gone
I will see my newfound love
Sitting on the throne.

I Said A Prayer For You Today

I said a prayer for you today and know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart although He spoke no word.
I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind.
I asked Him to send treasurers of a far more lasting kind.
I asked that He'd be near you at the start of each new day.
To grant you health and blessings and friends to share your way.
I asked for happiness for you in all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.

I Asked the Lord to Bless You

I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
to guide you and protect you
as you go along the way...

His love is always with you
His promises are true
and when we give him all of our cares
you know He will see us through

So when the road you are traveling on
seems difficult at best
just remember I am here praying
and God will do the rest.

Footprints

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

When the last scene of my life shot before me
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
There was only one set of footprints.
I realized that this was at the lowest
And saddest times of my life.
This always bothered me
And I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.

"Lord, you told me when I decided to follow You,
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome
Times of my life there is only one set of footprints.
I just don't understand why when I needed You most, You leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

The Final Season

When the fall is at winters door
my life here on earth will be no more
For my heavenly Father is calling me
to be with Him for eternity
I know I will miss my loved ones here
but the time will someday come
When the clouds above will part
And our Savior will appear.

So when I cross that Jordan river
and reach the other side
where pain and death will have no place
In Gods Wondrous domain I will forever abide.
Do not weep or mourn for me
for I’m forever safe
and one day we all will be
together forever with God eternally.

A Garnish of Praise

This is a special kind of recipe.
Not the kind you serve at meals-
You make it in your heart!

Ingredients:
-God's great love, poured out like a drink offering for you
-Some fruits (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control)
-Faith firm as a rock
-God's word, like honey on our lips (psalm 19:10)
-Your heart and some laughter

Method:
-First, you take some faith, and stir it around
-Add some joy and laughter, till it makes a bubbly sound
-Mix in some of God's great love, till it all begins to ring
-Pour in a willing heart
-Serve to the King of Kings!!!

Serving Tips:
-Don't be afraid to share it all around by giving - because when you give, it will come back to you! (Luke 7:38)
-When you're feeling down, offer the garnish of praise as a sacrifice to God! He invites us to give a sacrifice of praise!! (Psalm 107:22)
-You can consume as much praise as you possibly can. Live in him and the ingredients will never run out! (John 4:14)

The Gift Of Friendship

Friendship is a priceless gift
That cannot be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater
Than a mountain made of gold -
For gold is cold and lifeless,
It can neither see nor hear,
And in the time of trouble
It is powerless to cheer
It has no ears to listen,
No heart to understand,
It cannot bring you comfort
Or reach out a helping hand -
So when you ask God for a Gift,
Be thankful if He sends
Nor diamonds, pearls or riches,
But the love of real true friends.

A Song In The Night

A Song In The Night

The early morning dew glistens adorning the tapestry of God's garden.
Dawn gracefully spreads her wings and with joy declares His loving kindness.
The rising sun smiles upon the earth, radiantly shining forth God's glory.
Nature humbly genuflects honoring the Creator and His Righteousness.

Daylight exhibits exquisite paintings of the heavens and the earth.
Shades of colors unmatched by man, uniquely designed by God's loving hand.
A picturesque view, beautiful to behold by those who have eyes to see royalty displayed,
Evidence of God's perfect love with excellencies so grand.

A candle-like glow of the setting sun portrays God's majestic handiworks.
Brilliant spectrums softly brush the sky, filling our hearts with breathless delight.
The daytime slowly dissipates, glittering stars and moon now earth's light,
And while the dawn peacefully sleeps, God becomes our sweet song in the night.

Your Name

You got it from your Father
It was all he had to give,
So it's yours to use and cherish
For as long as you may live.

If you lose the watch he gave you
It can always be replaced;
But a black mark on your name
Can never be erased.

It was clean the day you took it,
And a worthy name to bear.
When he got it from his Father
There was no dishonor there.

So make sure you guard it wisely,
After all is said and done,
You'll be glad the name is spotless,
When you give it to your son.

Where The Road Leads

The road always leads back home,
No matter which way your feet tend to roam.
All my life this is what I heard people say,
Many was the time I tried to go some other way.

"There's no place like home," have you heard this one too?
When we try to leave we find this is so true.
The surroundings familiar, the smells so sweet,
There's no place like home, our hearts repeat.

Have you ever smelled something that takes you back in time?
Or seen a scene that completely clouds your mind?
Take a trip down memory lane and you will understand,
That the road to home is something mighty, mighty grand.

Think about all the times you wanted to run away,
To find a place that gave a new start to another brand new day.
And when you settled into that place all new,
You found that to go home again was all you wanted to do.

I've read that the road to heaven has many bumps and curves.
It is mighty narrow, never widens, never swerves.
So as you travel down life's road,
And at times when you feel that heavy load.

Know that there is a map to find your way home.
You can call 911, but not on the telephone.
Just put your hands together, close your eyes and bow your head.
Remember all the Words to you so many times He has said.

Home is where the heart is. Where is yours today?
Is it safe with Jesus, or has it gone astray?
Keep your eyes on Him no matter where you roam.
Then one day before long, you find your road is leading home.

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake just for me, and I knew that little things are special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I believed there is a God I could always talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked... and wanted to say thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.

Do they see Christ when you think they aren't looking?

The Weaver

My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me,
I cannot choose the colors He worketh steadily.

Oft times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
forget He sees the upper but I the under side.

Not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly,
shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needed in the Weaver's skillful hand,
as threads of gold and silver in the pattern life has planned.

I shudder at the thought of ever losing you.
Your heart completes my life, affects everything I do.
In a moment my life gained meaning, when you promised me your life.
I became a whole person when you became my wife.
There are just so many little things, that all add up to you.
Together they establish a foundation my heart is somehow connected to.
Your laughter never fails to bring a smile to my face. Your smile somehow seems to make things brighter, and chase sorrow away.
I watch you care for my son and thank God you are such a great mother.
I realize how special you are whenever I see you two together.
In Joseph I see your presence, he's so similar to you.
Every day I thank God my son's mother loves Jesus too.
I know we do not always see eye to eye.
Yet there is a common ground still.
Marriage is not about always being right or getting your way.
It is about following God's will.
If I had a chance to start over,
so many things would not be the same.
Yet when I started over,
I'd marry you again
So please let me thank you,
for promising to be my wife.
And of course Praise my blessed Savior.
For placing you in my life. I love you

All to Jesus, I surrender?

I give it all to Him,
When it does not take too much from me.
I offer all I have,
If what He wants is what I will give.

I realize my desires,
Are not always just like His,
In fact, if the truth be known,
My desire never really is.

Still I ask Him to save me,
His Grace does that for me.
Then I rest on that promise,
My eternal guarantee.

But what would I do, if by some chance,
Jesus could take salvation away?
Would I run for cover--that would do no good,
He has already seen my every day.

I could drop to my knees and beg forgiveness,
Maybe that would work.
Or would he just look at me and say in doubt
"These same words before I have heard"

Would Jesus wonder if I meant it then,
When I had not meant it before?
I do not know, I cannot guess,
But of this I can be sure.

Although I do not give Him my all,
My salvation is secure.
For Jesus will not forsake me like I have done to Him,
HE GAVE ME HIS ALL FOR SURE.

When I Say I Am A Christian

When I say ..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I was lost!"
That is why I chose this way."

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble and need someone to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are too visible but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches which is why I seek His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority I only know I'm loved.

What Did You Say, Lord?

She was lonely, and I gave her no friendship;
She was sad, and I gave her no cheer;
She was despairing, and I gave her no hope.
Yet I say, “Where have I failed Thee, Lord?”

Her child was sick, but I polished silver;
Her husband was fired, but I showed her my new suit;
Her friend let her down, but I went shopping.
Yet I say, “Where have I failed Thee, Lord?”

Her confidence was betrayed, then I told her the minister’s faults;
her faith was faltering, then I was critical of the church;
Her soul sought salvation, then I hurried off to my club.
Yet I say, “Where have I failed Thee, Lord?”

Wait! Did I hear Him say,
“You do not understand her needs.”
Did I hear Him say, “You were too busy.”
Did I hear Him say, “You are of little faith.”
Or did He say, “Why call ye me ‘Lord’?”

What Would Jesus Do?

Lord, throughout this day,
As I try to follow You,
Let this be my rule to live by:
What would Jesus Do?

When a friend or loved one
Asks me for a moment or two,
May I think of one thing only:
What Would Jesus Do?

In all my dealings, help me
To be honest, fair and true,
To measure each decision by:
What Would Jesus Do?

When I'm feeling troubled
And I turn in prayer to You,
Give me wisdom to decide:
What Would Jesus Do?

And let me promise each new day
To live my whole life through,
In love and peace, remembering"
What Would Jesus Do?

Then when the day is ended,
May I resolve anew
To guide tomorrow by the motto:
What Would Jesus Do?

Wait

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master who gently said,
"Child, you must wait."

"Wait You say wait!" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word

"My future and all to which I can relate
Hangs in the balance, and YOU tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a 'yes' a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.
"And Lord, You promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
Lord, I've been asking and this is my cry;
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!"

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate.
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and tout
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting. . . for what?"

He seemed, then to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And he tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

"All you seek I could give and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want — but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.

"You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I live and I save . . . (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

"The glow of My comfort late into the night.
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that 'My grace is sufficient for Thee.'
Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true,
But, Oh the loss! If I lost what I'm doing to you!

"So be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me
And though oft' may My answers seem terribly late
My most precious answer of all is still, "WAIT".

Too Late

The wind blows cold across the graves,
Of those who died in sin.
Those who died without Salvation,
Never to live again.

Never to walk the streets of gold,
Never to wear a robe or crown,
Never to soar with the angels,
For Satan has pulled them down.

Never to feel, the joy and thrill,
Of the Father's Love and Might.
Never to bask in the glorious glow,
Of God's eternal light.

Never again to know comfort,
Only pain, and misery.
Always to burn in the fires of hell,
For all eternity.

There is no hope for those poor souls,
For them, it is too late.
They will never have another chance,
To pass through Heaven's gate.

They will never have another chance,
To ask forgiveness for their sins.
For upon their death the offer,
Of Salvation did rescind.

It is sad, and tragic beyond words,
The price those souls must pay.
For they will find no mercy,
When they stand on Judgment Day.

These souls of friends and loved ones,
Who are doomed to the fires of Hell,
If they could speak directly to you,
What precious advise they would tell.

They would tell you that God is very real,
And that Jesus died for your sins,
They would tell you to drop to your knees,
And beg for redemption.

For those poor souls it is too late,
There's nothing else that they can do.
But they would tell you, if they could speak,
That it is not too late for you.

As long as you live, it is not too late,
To ask Jesus into your heart.
Once you are safe within His arms,
No power can pull you apart.

So bow your head, fold your hands,
In sincere, and humble prayer.
Commend your mortal spirit,
Into Jesus's loving care.

Accept Him now, before it's too late,
Before your time is at end.
Do not be a poor, wretched soul,
Who died within his sins.

To A Christian Friend

When the cold winds blow,
Will you offer me a warm place to go?
He said you would.

When my tears flow free in the pain of grief,
Will you weep with me?
He said you would.

When I'm in despair from the burden's load,
Will you stop to share?
He said you would.

In the joyful days when my spirit sings,
Will you join in praise?
He said you would.

Will you be my friend,
Will you walk with me
Unil the journey's end?
He said you would.

Jesus said, a new commandment I give unto you,
That you love one another, as I have loved you,
That ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples,
If ye have love one to another.

Too Busy for Jesus

The dream became clearer as I tossed around in my sleep.
The Lord was calling my name over and over, so loud and deep.
The voice surrounded my bedroom, I stared within.
He said, "This is Jesus, my friend, where have you been?"

He said, "My dear brethren, what have you done today,
to walk in my footsteps and try not to stray?
Not once have you been humble on your knees in prayer.
Son, you must shine my light and show others you care."

I saw you yesterday, only glancing at the man on the road.
He was having car trouble and needed to be towed.
You said, "I can't stop or I will surely be late,
someone will help him soon, he'll just have to wait."

"One of your workers has been sick and almost died.
This lady is a widow and food for five she must buy.
You have plenty and you're never hungry when you go to bed.
Why are you so greedy and trying to get ahead?

"What if I had been too busy to die on the cross?
You would never walk the streets of gold, your soul would be lost.
What if I had been too busy to hear you that day,
when you asked forgiveness and earnestly prayed?"

I awoke from my deep slumber and my heart felt content.
I thanked the Lord on my knees, for the message He had sent.
So many times, I take for granted the small things He has given to me.
Without the Lord in my life each day, I am blind and cannot see.

Times Three

He said, "You will say you don't know me."
I love you Lord, this cannot be.
Before the rooster last crows you will deny,
Sadly you will look me in the eye,
This will be times three!
Luke 22:34

Feed My sheep, I ask of thee.
I will do anything You ask of me,
Love them each and every day,
Gently show them all My Way.
This will be times three!
John 21:15 -19

A sheet of meat for me to see.
"Arise and eat," He said to me,
When I was on the roof to pray,
Asking God to show me His Way.
This will be times three!
Acts 10: 9 - 16

Peter loved his Lord, as do we,
Though it seems he acted stubbornly.
If instead it had been me today,
Could I at once see it His Way?
Or would it have to be times three

This I Know

I know not what methods rare,
But this I know-God answers prayer.
I know that He has given His Word,
Which tells me prayer is always heard,
And will be answered, soon or late,
And so I pray and calmly wait.
I know not if the blessing sought
Will come in just the way I thought,
But leave my prayers with Him alone,
Whose will is wiser than my own.
Assured that He will grant my quest,
Or send some answer far more blest

The Ten Commandments

Moses went up to Mount Sinai;
he had to go up alone,
to get commandments from the Lord
divinely etched in stone.

He brought them down the mountain,
and showed them to the Jews.
He said, “Follow these laws of God,
or die in your sins—you choose.

You shall have no other gods before me,
It simply can’t be done!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 1.”

No graven images shall you worship,
this you should NEVER do!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 2.”

You shall not use my name in vain;
it's a great insult to Me!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 3.”

You shall keep holy the Sabbath day;
on that day, work no more.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 4.”

Honor your Father and your Mother,
as long as you’re alive.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 5.”

You shall not kill a living soul;
adhere to my edicts!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 6.”

You shall not commit adultery,
I say to you from Heaven.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 7.”

You shall not steal from anyone,
thievery I really hate!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 8.”

You shall not lie about anyone,
or in any way seek to malign.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 9.”

You shall not covet anything
that’s owned by other men.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 10.”

But Jesus fulfilled these commandments,
so we’re under the law no more; for,
instead we’re saved through Jesus Christ,
and we’ll live on forever more!
