Your Name

You got it from your Father
It was all he had to give,
So it's yours to use and cherish
For as long as you may live.

If you lose the watch he gave you
It can always be replaced;
But a black mark on your name
Can never be erased.

It was clean the day you took it,
And a worthy name to bear.
When he got it from his Father
There was no dishonor there.

So make sure you guard it wisely,
After all is said and done,
You'll be glad the name is spotless,
When you give it to your son.

Where The Road Leads

The road always leads back home,
No matter which way your feet tend to roam.
All my life this is what I heard people say,
Many was the time I tried to go some other way.

"There's no place like home," have you heard this one too?
When we try to leave we find this is so true.
The surroundings familiar, the smells so sweet,
There's no place like home, our hearts repeat.

Have you ever smelled something that takes you back in time?
Or seen a scene that completely clouds your mind?
Take a trip down memory lane and you will understand,
That the road to home is something mighty, mighty grand.

Think about all the times you wanted to run away,
To find a place that gave a new start to another brand new day.
And when you settled into that place all new,
You found that to go home again was all you wanted to do.

I've read that the road to heaven has many bumps and curves.
It is mighty narrow, never widens, never swerves.
So as you travel down life's road,
And at times when you feel that heavy load.

Know that there is a map to find your way home.
You can call 911, but not on the telephone.
Just put your hands together, close your eyes and bow your head.
Remember all the Words to you so many times He has said.

Home is where the heart is. Where is yours today?
Is it safe with Jesus, or has it gone astray?
Keep your eyes on Him no matter where you roam.
Then one day before long, you find your road is leading home.

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake just for me, and I knew that little things are special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I believed there is a God I could always talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked... and wanted to say thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.

Do they see Christ when you think they aren't looking?

The Weaver

My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me,
I cannot choose the colors He worketh steadily.

Oft times He weaveth sorrow, and I in foolish pride
forget He sees the upper but I the under side.

Not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly,
shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.

The dark threads are as needed in the Weaver's skillful hand,
as threads of gold and silver in the pattern life has planned.

The Pastor's Wife

She's a Godly woman, she has such grace
Always a warm greeting, a smile on her face
She's always encouraging, she knows her place
She is - The Pastor's Wife

She has to always look just right
Always on time, though the schedule's tight
From early morning, til late at night
Always - The Pastor's Wife

She's such a Lady, everyone's friend
She serves with love from deep within
All of the rifts she tries to mend
Oh she's - The Pastor's Wife

She carries your burdens, she prays for you
Sometimes she cries the whole night through
But you won't know when she's feeling blue
'Cause she's - The Pastor's Wife

At church as she starts to walk up the aisle
So many need to stop and talk for awhile
Though she is tired, she has her own trials
She's patient, she's - The Pastor's Wife

Her life, her time is not her own
There's always a need, they go on and on
With a knock on the door or a ringing phone
That's the life of - The Pastor's Wife

Her husband she shares with a whole congregation
She humbly accepts his intense dedication
In loneliness she kneels to seek consolation
God Bless - The Pastor's Wife

She will someday reach the end of her race
As she meets her Master, face to face
Surely our God had a Special Place
In heaven for - The Pastor's Wife

I shudder at the thought of ever losing you.
Your heart completes my life, affects everything I do.
In a moment my life gained meaning, when you promised me your life.
I became a whole person when you became my wife.
There are just so many little things, that all add up to you.
Together they establish a foundation my heart is somehow connected to.
Your laughter never fails to bring a smile to my face. Your smile somehow seems to make things brighter, and chase sorrow away.
I watch you care for my son and thank God you are such a great mother.
I realize how special you are whenever I see you two together.
In Joseph I see your presence, he's so similar to you.
Every day I thank God my son's mother loves Jesus too.
I know we do not always see eye to eye.
Yet there is a common ground still.
Marriage is not about always being right or getting your way.
It is about following God's will.
If I had a chance to start over,
so many things would not be the same.
Yet when I started over,
I'd marry you again
So please let me thank you,
for promising to be my wife.
And of course Praise my blessed Savior.
For placing you in my life. I love you

All to Jesus, I surrender?

I give it all to Him,
When it does not take too much from me.
I offer all I have,
If what He wants is what I will give.

I realize my desires,
Are not always just like His,
In fact, if the truth be known,
My desire never really is.

Still I ask Him to save me,
His Grace does that for me.
Then I rest on that promise,
My eternal guarantee.

But what would I do, if by some chance,
Jesus could take salvation away?
Would I run for cover--that would do no good,
He has already seen my every day.

I could drop to my knees and beg forgiveness,
Maybe that would work.
Or would he just look at me and say in doubt
"These same words before I have heard"

Would Jesus wonder if I meant it then,
When I had not meant it before?
I do not know, I cannot guess,
But of this I can be sure.

Although I do not give Him my all,
My salvation is secure.
For Jesus will not forsake me like I have done to Him,
HE GAVE ME HIS ALL FOR SURE.

When I Say I Am A Christian

When I say ..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not shouting "I am saved"
I'm whispering "I was lost!"
That is why I chose this way."

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I’m confessing that I stumble and need someone to be my guide.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I’m professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are too visible but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches which is why I seek His name.

When I say..."I am a Christian,"
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority I only know I'm loved.

What Did You Say, Lord?

She was lonely, and I gave her no friendship;
She was sad, and I gave her no cheer;
She was despairing, and I gave her no hope.
Yet I say, “Where have I failed Thee, Lord?”

Her child was sick, but I polished silver;
Her husband was fired, but I showed her my new suit;
Her friend let her down, but I went shopping.
Yet I say, “Where have I failed Thee, Lord?”

Her confidence was betrayed, then I told her the minister’s faults;
her faith was faltering, then I was critical of the church;
Her soul sought salvation, then I hurried off to my club.
Yet I say, “Where have I failed Thee, Lord?”

Wait! Did I hear Him say,
“You do not understand her needs.”
Did I hear Him say, “You were too busy.”
Did I hear Him say, “You are of little faith.”
Or did He say, “Why call ye me ‘Lord’?”

What Would Jesus Do?

Lord, throughout this day,
As I try to follow You,
Let this be my rule to live by:
What would Jesus Do?

When a friend or loved one
Asks me for a moment or two,
May I think of one thing only:
What Would Jesus Do?

In all my dealings, help me
To be honest, fair and true,
To measure each decision by:
What Would Jesus Do?

When I'm feeling troubled
And I turn in prayer to You,
Give me wisdom to decide:
What Would Jesus Do?

And let me promise each new day
To live my whole life through,
In love and peace, remembering"
What Would Jesus Do?

Then when the day is ended,
May I resolve anew
To guide tomorrow by the motto:
What Would Jesus Do?

Wait

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master who gently said,
"Child, you must wait."

"Wait You say wait!" my indignant reply.
"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith, I have asked, and am claiming your Word

"My future and all to which I can relate
Hangs in the balance, and YOU tell me to WAIT?
I'm needing a 'yes' a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.
"And Lord, You promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
Lord, I've been asking and this is my cry;
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!"

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate.
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and tout
And grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting. . . for what?"

He seemed, then to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And he tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

"All you seek I could give and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want — but you wouldn't know Me.
You'd not know the depth of My love for each saint;
You'd not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence were all you could see.

"You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of My Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I live and I save . . . (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

"The glow of My comfort late into the night.
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that 'My grace is sufficient for Thee.'
Yes, your dreams for your loved one overnight would come true,
But, Oh the loss! If I lost what I'm doing to you!

"So be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to get to know Me
And though oft' may My answers seem terribly late
My most precious answer of all is still, "WAIT".

Too Late

The wind blows cold across the graves,
Of those who died in sin.
Those who died without Salvation,
Never to live again.

Never to walk the streets of gold,
Never to wear a robe or crown,
Never to soar with the angels,
For Satan has pulled them down.

Never to feel, the joy and thrill,
Of the Father's Love and Might.
Never to bask in the glorious glow,
Of God's eternal light.

Never again to know comfort,
Only pain, and misery.
Always to burn in the fires of hell,
For all eternity.

There is no hope for those poor souls,
For them, it is too late.
They will never have another chance,
To pass through Heaven's gate.

They will never have another chance,
To ask forgiveness for their sins.
For upon their death the offer,
Of Salvation did rescind.

It is sad, and tragic beyond words,
The price those souls must pay.
For they will find no mercy,
When they stand on Judgment Day.

These souls of friends and loved ones,
Who are doomed to the fires of Hell,
If they could speak directly to you,
What precious advise they would tell.

They would tell you that God is very real,
And that Jesus died for your sins,
They would tell you to drop to your knees,
And beg for redemption.

For those poor souls it is too late,
There's nothing else that they can do.
But they would tell you, if they could speak,
That it is not too late for you.

As long as you live, it is not too late,
To ask Jesus into your heart.
Once you are safe within His arms,
No power can pull you apart.

So bow your head, fold your hands,
In sincere, and humble prayer.
Commend your mortal spirit,
Into Jesus's loving care.

Accept Him now, before it's too late,
Before your time is at end.
Do not be a poor, wretched soul,
Who died within his sins.

To A Christian Friend

When the cold winds blow,
Will you offer me a warm place to go?
He said you would.

When my tears flow free in the pain of grief,
Will you weep with me?
He said you would.

When I'm in despair from the burden's load,
Will you stop to share?
He said you would.

In the joyful days when my spirit sings,
Will you join in praise?
He said you would.

Will you be my friend,
Will you walk with me
Unil the journey's end?
He said you would.

Jesus said, a new commandment I give unto you,
That you love one another, as I have loved you,
That ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples,
If ye have love one to another.

Too Busy for Jesus

The dream became clearer as I tossed around in my sleep.
The Lord was calling my name over and over, so loud and deep.
The voice surrounded my bedroom, I stared within.
He said, "This is Jesus, my friend, where have you been?"

He said, "My dear brethren, what have you done today,
to walk in my footsteps and try not to stray?
Not once have you been humble on your knees in prayer.
Son, you must shine my light and show others you care."

I saw you yesterday, only glancing at the man on the road.
He was having car trouble and needed to be towed.
You said, "I can't stop or I will surely be late,
someone will help him soon, he'll just have to wait."

"One of your workers has been sick and almost died.
This lady is a widow and food for five she must buy.
You have plenty and you're never hungry when you go to bed.
Why are you so greedy and trying to get ahead?

"What if I had been too busy to die on the cross?
You would never walk the streets of gold, your soul would be lost.
What if I had been too busy to hear you that day,
when you asked forgiveness and earnestly prayed?"

I awoke from my deep slumber and my heart felt content.
I thanked the Lord on my knees, for the message He had sent.
So many times, I take for granted the small things He has given to me.
Without the Lord in my life each day, I am blind and cannot see.

Times Three

He said, "You will say you don't know me."
I love you Lord, this cannot be.
Before the rooster last crows you will deny,
Sadly you will look me in the eye,
This will be times three!
Luke 22:34

Feed My sheep, I ask of thee.
I will do anything You ask of me,
Love them each and every day,
Gently show them all My Way.
This will be times three!
John 21:15 -19

A sheet of meat for me to see.
"Arise and eat," He said to me,
When I was on the roof to pray,
Asking God to show me His Way.
This will be times three!
Acts 10: 9 - 16

Peter loved his Lord, as do we,
Though it seems he acted stubbornly.
If instead it had been me today,
Could I at once see it His Way?
Or would it have to be times three

This I Know

I know not what methods rare,
But this I know-God answers prayer.
I know that He has given His Word,
Which tells me prayer is always heard,
And will be answered, soon or late,
And so I pray and calmly wait.
I know not if the blessing sought
Will come in just the way I thought,
But leave my prayers with Him alone,
Whose will is wiser than my own.
Assured that He will grant my quest,
Or send some answer far more blest

The Ten Commandments

Moses went up to Mount Sinai;
he had to go up alone,
to get commandments from the Lord
divinely etched in stone.

He brought them down the mountain,
and showed them to the Jews.
He said, “Follow these laws of God,
or die in your sins—you choose.

You shall have no other gods before me,
It simply can’t be done!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 1.”

No graven images shall you worship,
this you should NEVER do!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 2.”

You shall not use my name in vain;
it's a great insult to Me!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 3.”

You shall keep holy the Sabbath day;
on that day, work no more.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 4.”

Honor your Father and your Mother,
as long as you’re alive.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 5.”

You shall not kill a living soul;
adhere to my edicts!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 6.”

You shall not commit adultery,
I say to you from Heaven.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 7.”

You shall not steal from anyone,
thievery I really hate!
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 8.”

You shall not lie about anyone,
or in any way seek to malign.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 9.”

You shall not covet anything
that’s owned by other men.
“This,” says the Almighty God,
“is commandment number 10.”

But Jesus fulfilled these commandments,
so we’re under the law no more; for,
instead we’re saved through Jesus Christ,
and we’ll live on forever more!
